About

Hi there, my name is Katie. I'm a mom, homemaker and homeschooler . This blog isn't a showcase or a "brag book." Actually, its about two things I'm not particularly good at: living modestly and gratefully.

When I say modest living, I have two definitions in mind:
(1) material modesty, having less and wanting less, and
(2) having modesty or humility in my heart.

When I say grateful living, I define grateful in a very simple sense: thankful, joyful and content.

I live in a beautiful and safe place. I have a great family. I love my husband and he loves me. My kids are healthy... and yet, I still have a ticker-tape of complaints and woe-is-me thoughts running (sometimes non-stop) in my head.

Anyone know what I mean? Anyone? You too? Okay. Maybe its not just me...

I will tell you upfront... I was raised a Christian and I am a Christian. Yep, born again. And I tell you this not to proselytize or mount a soapbox, but to be honest. I truly don't consider my flaws to be any less grimy or problematic than anyone else's flaws. And if I ever write something that suggests otherwise, you can call me out. Please, call me out.

But I do want to tell you, honestly, that I'm a Christian because it directly impacts my expectations for this blog. If I didn't think there was hope to change and grow, to become more modest and more and more grateful, I wouldn't bother trying.

Jesus Christ gives me the pattern and the power to change. Thank you, blog visitor and friend, for coming on this journey of change with me.
